Would you like to do a fabulous unsupported century with me?

I'm planning my own century ride later this month (October) through some of the most fabulous mountain country just north of Beckwourth, California. There is about 4,000 feet of climbing and the same amount of descending. The route can be viewed here. You can see my information at RVeCycling.com . Driving time from the bay area to the starting point is likely 5 hours. I am currently a campground host for six national forest campgrounds 11 miles west of Downieville, CA on Hwy 49. You could certainly camp in the campgrounds and we could car pool to the starting point. We will have lunch in Genesee. I would prefer to do this ride in the middle of the week but I can also arrange a weekend day too. The weather may be a factor but is usually great cycling weather this time of year. I've purposely NOT explored this route so it will be "all new" to me. Other cyclists have recommended it. I'd rather not do it alone since it's into a remote area with not much traffic so if I have a mechanical problem there will be help. On the other hand, I always ride prepared to take care of myself and have not had to "bail out" of a ride in a long time. This should be a challenge for any rider, especially one from sea level but I'm 63 years old and believe I'm ready. I actually expect it to be easier than the ride I had (past tense) been planning which has over 8000 feet of climbing. I'd do that ride but I've been over that route many times and would rather see something new. I'm expecting the total riding time to be seven hours, six hours of riding and 1 hour of lunch and stretch breaks. That will give you an idea of how fast I intend to ride. I hope you can find some folks who would like to do this ... the experience should be worth it.

SOunds Great! I don't know if we can make time for it here at the shops, but we'll let people know about it. Let us know what we can do to help.
